Areas Pit Bull Advocates of America Serves

The Pit Bull Advocates of America rescue program works primarily in the greater Milwaukee area. Since we like to provide follow up support and resources to our adopters we do not adopt far out of this area. We primarily adopt within Washington, Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine and Kenosha counties. For the right family we will consider further away.

Pit Bull Advocates of America's Adoption Process

See an adoptable that might be the perfect fit for you?
Familiarize yourself with our process by reading these step by step instructions and fill out an adoption application today.

1. Review our Adoption Requirements on our website.

2. Complete the Online Adoption Application Impress us with your application. How is your home the perfect fit?

3. Your Adoption Application will be reviewed within one week and if approved, you’ll be invited to set up a meet and greet with the dog you applied for. Meet and greets are held with the entire family (human and canine). This will allow everyone to get to know each other better and will give your current animals a chance to meet the dog to make sure everyone gets along.

4. If a perfect fit seems to be lingering in the air, we’ll ask you to go home, replay the meeting in your mind and sleep on it, without the dog. This is a big decision on everyone’s part. You need time to think about it and so do we.

5. If everyone wants to move forward, we’ll invite you to keep the dog in your home under our Foster to Adopt contract and the dog will be marked as “Adoption Pending.” We’ll schedule a time for a Home Visit / Foster to Adopt drop off.

6. Adoptions are finalized once the dog is adjusting well to your family and pets, the dog’s management and training are well established, and everyone feels it was a match made in heaven. This meeting includes signing an adoption contract and providing the adoption donation of $200.

7. Welcome to the family! Get ready to enjoy a lifetime of unconditional love from your newly adopted PBAOA dog.

**We believe all dogs should be treated, managed, and trained using force-free training methods. For the perfect fit to be achieved, training philosophies need to align between PBAOA and our adopters – or there needs to be evidence that you’re open to learning. The dog training/behavior landscape has changed dramatically in the last 10 years alone. We’ve made huge strides in understanding our favorite companions and how they learn best. It’s imperative that our adopters don’t use any punitive training methods.
