The MuttShack Animal Rescue Foundation, Inc.'s Adoption Process

E-mail us for an appointment to see the pup of your liking. (Include your phone number) and we will arrange a phone interview for you to ask all your questions and set up a date and time for you to meet your pup.

Our dogs are snuggled in little cribs for you to enjoy. We encourage you to come snuggle, treat and walk our doggies or enjoy some playtime or a play date in our training room.

Most adoptions are simple, completed the same day requiring an application, contract and interview before taking the pet home. All big breed dog pups require mandatory training.

Our adoption fees are $350 - $650 covering aggregate medical expenses. Our dogs are treated for any existing medical conditions, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and come with a free vet visit.

Adopting families must demonstrate a strong commitment to their new dog's well-being regardless of what physical or behavioral challenges they currently face and must commit by written contract to provide all the care, love, exercise, training, socialization and attention the pet will need for the rest of its life.

About The MuttShack Animal Rescue Foundation, Inc.

We rescue moms and puppies from poor underserved communities. We spay moms, provide medical care, and spay and neuter to the puppies then adopt pups into homes, stopping the ongoing cycle of breeding.

Our Moms and Pups in Poverty Program helps people and animals in underserved communities.

"There are approximately 23 million pets living in poverty in the U.S. today. Of those, an estimated 80% are unaltered and 70% have never seen a veterinarian. These pets in poverty are the most likely source of unwanted litters which are given away or sold and then become the pets entering local shelters". (Pets for Life data).

The MuttShack Animal Rescue, work with shelters, rescues and rescuers in underserved areas to find moms and their puppies. Our objective - ending the cycle of breeding and poverty when little pups go out and start breeding. We support these communities - going out to do rescues, continue to provide food, vaccines, medications and ongoing support to the families.

We provide the moms and pups with critical natal care, disinfest, deworm, and give vaccines against devastating puppy diseases. The moms and the pups are spayed and neutered. We socialize (often feral) pups, with people and other dogs. We then reach out to you to help us find them homes.

Many of our puppies are rescued from impoverished, unsafe and unsanitary conditions, some are born under houses, wood piles, back-yard junkyards, alleys, under cars and even boats. When we find them they are riddled with fleas and ticks with mom living on scraps and leftovers and puppies infested with worms so bad they are frequently just days from death. We spay all moms, and if owners choose we take them too. Several moms are feral, depositing litters where they feel safe but abandoning them when interfered with. These moms are usually monitored by a rescuer, and fed and supported.

We have unparalleled assistance from local rescuers, farmers and people who ensure they bring us their pups instead of taking them to the shelter. When we take in puppies we give them a warm disinfectant bath, test for Parvo, vaccinate, deworm and de-flea and tick with medicine and hands on combing. We also start them on supplements and quality food. We provide care 24 hours a day. Where are the mamas? We are not animal control or law enforcement and have do not have the authority to just take a dog from their family, but spay and provide medical care for them.

And then we ask you to help by adopting, fostering, or just helping us promote.

Please consider becoming a sustainable donor and help us feed and support our communities with spay and neuter. The MuttShack Animal Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) Non-Profit which is volunteer staffed and supported through donor contributions.
