A 4914 Hanna St, Fort Wayne, IN 46806 shelter helping to find loving homes for dogs, cats.
1 - 20 of 52 Adoptable Pets at This Shelter
For over 65 years the Allen County SPCA has served northeast Indiana’s pets and the people who love them. Every year we place thousands of dogs and cats into forever homes. Our animals come to us from a variety of circumstances and require attention from the moment they arrive. While in our care, we provide medical and rehabilitation services, enrichment, and behavior assessments as necessary to give our animals the best opportunity for adoption. Each pet available for adoption is spayed or neutered and current on all vaccines. In addition, we offer comprehensive pet retention programs to assist pet owners in need and those with barriers to care for their beloved animals. Operating without any financial support from the government, the Allen County SPCA survives solely through the generosity of pet lovers in our community.
The Allen County SPCA will promote the prevention of cruelty to animals by providing a safe haven for animals, an effective and comprehensive adoption program, education and outreach programs for the community and deep and broad membership and volunteer programs.
When you come to our shelter, you can ask about visiting with our animals. If you don't yet know of an animal you want to visit, take a look on our website or in our pet binder (available at our shelter) or simply do a walk-through in the kennels or cat colonies. Our printed resources have pictures and details about each dog or cat. They cover behavioral characteristics and provide information on the type of home we believe might be best for that pet.
Once you know which animal(s) you would like to meet, we will take you into our socialization room to visit with dogs or into a cat room to visit with the cats. Please note that some of our cats are available at our mobile adoption sites at the PetSmart locations in Fort Wayne. Check the "Location" for each cat or kitten on our website by clicking on their picture.
During your animal visit, you will be able to spend time interacting with the animals and ask our staff any questions you may have about how we received the animal, behavioral characteristics, and general information about the animal. We are there to help you get as familiar as possible with the animals.
Please note that it’s recommended that all those living within your household interact with the dog or cat prior to adoption.
