Who We Are

D.O.G.(Dogs of the Gorge) was founded in June of 2007. We saw a need in helping Klickitat County Residents with spaying and neutering their dogs and cats. We also help with homeless dogs and re-homing dogs and puppies. We started a spay and neuter program with money raised through donations and fundraising. We have 4 annual fundraisers such as our "Spay-ghetti and No Balls Dinner" and our "Barking Lot Sale" and our very popular "Huckleberry Hound Pawcakes and Woofle Barkfest." All of the monies raised at these fundraisers go to our spay and neuter programs and other costs that it takes to get these dogs ready for adoption.

We have most of our dogs at the shelter but we are very lucky to have a few foster homes. We really could use more foster homes. Foster homes are very valuable to D.O.G. When we get small dogs or puppies that are scared we call our foster homes and they will take on these dogs while we search for their forever homes. If you are interested in fostering for us please contract us at dogsofthegorge@yahoo.com. How long you have a foster dog depends on what they need as far as training or socializing. Puppies get homes fast and so do the small dogs. The bigger dogs and older dogs take a little longer to find them new homes. We also use Oregon Humane Society. They have a program called "Second Chance Companion" They take dogs from local shelters and find them new homes. They are also a No Kill facility.

In the two years that we have been at the shelter we have helped over 300 dogs get new homes, spayed and neutered almost 200 dogs and cats. We have a lot more work to be done and with your help and donations we will be able to do great things for years to come. Hopefully in 2010 we will be adding onto our little shelter so we can help even more dogs.

The shelter is located in Goldendale Wa. We adopt out our dogs all over the Northwest and Canada.

Additional adoption info

All of our dogs are spayed and neutered and get all their vaccines. We charge an adoption fee to cover our veterinarian cost. Some of our dogs have more money into them so there might be a difference in price with each dog. Most of our dogs are 100.00-150.00. They are also wormed and have been micro chipped.
