Areas Rescued Tails Animal Sanctuary serves

Rescued Tails Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing, caring for and placing homeless animals. We promote positive people / animal relationships through our adoption and educational programs advocating humane treatment of all animals, including the importance of spaying and neutering. Some of the animals that come to Rescued Tails Animal Sanctuary are older, sick or have suffered from severe neglect or cruelty. We value the life of each companion animal and provide a permanent safe haven for animals as needed. At the sanctuary we work to rehabilitate companion animals that need additional training and time and then attempt to place them in appropriate homes. If we should ever place an animal that is not succeeding in a home environment then we will gladly take them into our hearts and care for them here at the sanctuary. Our sanctuary is located in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, and most of our foster homes are located in the Twin Cities Metro area of Minnesota

Additional adoption info

Welcoming a pet into your home is a commitment of time, patience, money and love. You should think very carefully and do your research before adopting any animal. Rescued Tails Animal Sanctuary spays / neuters all companion animals before adoption. All animals are vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested (dogs), feline leukemia tested and microchipped. If you find an animal that you are interested in on our web site please call, or e-mail us, and we will gladly tell you more about that special animal. Our experienced volunteers will help you select a companion animal that will fit your personality and lifestyle. We want you to experience a rewarding, lifetime relationship with your new companion. If you find a furry friend you wish to adopt you will fill out an adoption application and then a home visit will be set up. At the time of adoption you will fill out an adoption contract and pay the adoption donation.

About Rescued Tails Animal Sanctuary

Rescued Tails is a small group of volunteers who believes that every life is valuable, and that every healthy or treatable animal is worth saving. We have an affinity for those animals whose chances of being rescued from impounds or kill-shelters are minimized due to breed, age, temperament and/or color. We provide training or seek medical treatment when applicable to ensure that every one of our animals gets a chance at a new beginning.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
