Rescue FAQs

We work with local shelters and rescues in the North Texas/DFW Area, in order to obtain the main goal all around- stopping the over population of pets, and unnecessary euthanasia of adoptable pets purely because of space. Some of our fosters come from directly from the owners because they could for whatever reason no longer take care of the dog and/or the dog was in a bad situation.

Additional adoption info

Policy:

Must be 21 years of age or older to adopt from PFR, Inc.
We do not ship dogs.
We do not adopt out of state.(unless you are personally known)
If you reside more than 1 hour away, you will need to arrange transport, and it is the adopters responsibility to pay for transport.
Must show proof of pet deposit and manager/landlordapproval PRIOR to filling out application. This shows us that regardless if you adopt from us, you've already made the necessary arrangements to know you're allowed to have the pet you're seeking.
ALL fosters come spayed/neutered (NO exceptions), up to date on their vaccinations and micro-chipped. The ONLY time a dog would be adopted out not yet spayed/neutered or with out all of their shots, is because of age(too young). In that situation, a strict spay/neuter and vaccine contract is placed.

When you contact us you will be sent an application to fill out.
Your application will then be reviewed. We do limited background checks, character checks, vet checks(if applicable), and area checks of the neighborhoods.
If there are any questions regarding your application we will contact you via email.
If your application is approved, we will then move forward to scheduling a meet/greet with you/your family. Depending on the weather- we'll have you come out to meet the dog or pick a neutral area. If that goes well, we'll set up another meet/greet at neutral area if you also happen to have your own family pets to introduce to the foster. This is so they are both on neutral territory and can meet each other without territorial issues. We'll take them for a walk together, and just let them get to know each other.
If this goes well, we'll set up a date to schedule a sleepover. These generally happen on a Thursday or Friday and last until Sunday. If the sleep over goes well, then Sunday the adoption will get finalized, contract papers signed, and the adoption fee paid.
