We are a non-profit that takes in owner surrendered pets and some strays. We have all animals vetted before adoption.

We are located close enough to Marion, Panola and Gregg counties for potential adopters to come visit the pets.
We are funded by donations and memberships only.

An application must be filled out before adoptions are granted.

Dog adoptions are $100 plus a $50.00 deposit for a spay/neuter surgery. Total adoption fee $150.00. Once the surgery is completed and we receive paperwork back from the veterinarian's office, we will refund you back your deposit.

Cat adoptions are $65.00 plus a $35.00 deposit for a spay/neuter surgery. Total adoption fee $100.00. Once the surgery is completed and we receive paperwork back from the veterinarian's office, we will refund you back your deposit.

Included with the dog adoptions are the pet's spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, parvo/distemper inoculation, goodie bag, a collar with id tag, and a training leash. Cat adoptions include the pet's spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, feline distemper vaccination, collar, id tag, and a goodie bag. Dogs and cats are given at least a first worming and may have been provided other veterinarian procedures, such as dental care, as needed. An adoption application can be found at www.hshc-paws.org

No pet that has not been altered will be adopted outside of our county due to Texas State law requiring all pets to be altered that come from a shelter or rescue. If they are to young we will adopt out locally so they can be brought back for surgery when they are old enough.

We are a small group who are dedicated to finding homes for unwanted pets. There is a large volunteer base that helps out daily at The Pet Place taking care of the animals, helping customers with spay/neuter vouchers, grooming and facility maintenance. The Pet Place of Marshall is a private pet adoption center located in the heart of Marshall, Texas.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
