German Shorthaired Pointer
A Shamokin, PA 17872 rescue helping to find loving homes for dogs.
1 - 2 of 2 Adoptable Pets at This Shelter
We are located in Central PA
We are not limited to rehoming in PA. We will consider
applications from any state.
Why do you charge an adoption fee?
The cost of getting a dog from a shelter is very high. Average pulling fee is 65.00 and up, boarding in quarantine if 11.00-25.00 a day for 10 to 14 days, transport can range from 175.00 to 200.00 per dog.We vet the dogs, make sure they are UTD, spay/neuter when possible, microchip and more. Dogs/pups are then fostered for a few weeks to get to know personality and make sure they are suitable for adoption.
Some dogs coming from high kill shelters require extensive vet care in order to get them healthy enough for a new home.
We must purchase food, treats, toys, beds, and crates for crate training and transport.
A fee is charged to help us cover just some of these costs and to help allieve the issue of impulse adoptions. Adopting a pet is an emotional and financial commitment for the life of the animal.
We only accept cash or money orders at this time.
Where is the rescue located?
We are mainly located in Shamokin, PA, but because we use fosters, we are scattered throughout PA.
Our dogs/pups are kept in home environments, we treat them as a part of our families.
What happens to a dog that doesn't get adopted?
Our dogs/pups stay with us in a home until the time that they are adopted. No dog is ever returned to a shelter situation.
How do I adopt a dog or puppy?
You must fill out an application and be approved.
Can I volunteer to help?
Absolutely! Without volunteers we can not help so many dogs and pups. We have dog walkers, fosters, cross-posters and more. We would appreciate help in any way that you can offer, just contact us.
Do you have a trial period if I take a dog home?
As a general rule we do not have trial periods. The reason being that if you choose not to adopt the dog, they may have lost out on a good home while in the trial period.
We do allow for trial periods in certain situations at our own discretion.

Mommy & me is a no-kill, Pennsylvania state licensed, charitable non-profit 501(c)(3) rescue and foster home network servicing the central Pennsylvania area.
We are dedicated to rescuing dogs that are in need of homes, no matter the reason-
dogs in high kill shelters where the risk of being adopted before their time is up is slim to none-
dogs that we are asked to help because the owner can no longer care for them- and dogs that
are stray, in danger of being abused, or are in an already abusive situation.
All of the dogs and puppies we take in are placed in foster homes and treated as members of the family until a permanent home can be found.
We strive to learn as much as we can about an animal so that we can make sure they are a great match for their new family.
We screen potential adopters intensely prior to allowing them to meet a dog or puppy.
All animals in our care receive appropriate veterinary care and treatment.
We work hard to educate people on the importance of spay/neuter and vaccinations.
Our primary focus is pregnant dogs, mommies with pups, pups, and small breed adults.
We try our best to help any dog in distress and in cases where we can not help, we work to
network the animal so that they can find appropriate help.
All funds donated go directly to the rescue and care of the dogs and puppies.
We are strictly volunteer and no one receives any monetary compensation.
If you would like to donate to the vet care of our animals you can contact our vet directly.
