Additional adoption info

Our adoption fee ranges from $250-$400 depending on the medical needs required by the animal at the time of rescue. Every animal we adopt out comes fully vaccinated (according to age of the animal), spayed and neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and current on heartworm and flea prevention. Once interested in one of our lovely animals contact us and we will send you an adoption application. This application ask questions regarding home location and type, current pets in the household, other family members in the household, dog experience, training experience and techniques, time dog will spend alone, veterinary information, and give you the opportunity to give any other information you want us to know.

About Safe Harbor Animal Rescue

Sara Drum is the driving force behind Safe Harbor Animal Rescue, she works in the human medical field and has the greats love for animals I have ever met. I, Erin Meurer, have worked as a veterinary technician and also have a love of animals but understand the medical needs of all our pets. Together we work together to save as many animals we can, we work with them through behavioral problems and medical problems. Recovery is always done in Sara's home and I come and train them before they head into the new adoptive homes. Our hopes is to give as many chances to animals who would not have received a chance in the shelters or in their former homes.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
