Atlanta Humane Society - Alpharetta's Adoption Process

1. Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

2. Meet the Pet

3. Take the Pet Home

Falling in love? Hooray! Due to COVID-19, our adoption process has changed. For animals living in-facility, please visit our Alpharetta location Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12:00-5:00 p.m. for adoptions.

To help minimize crowds in our facility, we’re operating a digital waitlist system for those coming to our shelter to adopt. The waitlist opens up at 11 a.m. each day and is accessible through the URL posted outside our Alpharetta location. The first visitors on the list will be able to enter our facility starting at 12 p.m. Typically, the wait list closes at 4 p.m.; however, if we have a large number of visitors add their names to our waitlist on a particular day, we will have to close the waitlist earlier.

For animals living in foster care, please fill out the pre-adoption application at atlantahumane.org/adoption-application, and our staff will review your application as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience.

Please keep in mind that our Adopt-a-pet profile is slightly delayed, so an animal listed here may already be adopted. To see all currently available animals listed in real time, please visit atlantahumane.org/adopt.

About Atlanta Humane Society - Alpharetta

The Atlanta Humane Society is a no-kill shelter providing 60,000 direct points of care to animals each year through sheltering and adoption, veterinary care, and community outreach. We operate out of three locations in metro Atlanta and help find nearly 10,000 animals loving homes each year. As one of the oldest charities in Atlanta, we have been caring for our community and her animals for more than 147 years.

We believe the relationship between humans and animals has deep significance, and we call on our city and each other to take action. Together we put up a united front against cruelty, neglect, and displacement. With a heart to better lives, we connect homeless animals with good homes and neglected animals with safe spaces—uplifting our community by instilling compassion.

We’re proud to be able to work together with animal advocates, other animal welfare organizations, and our community partners to save lives.

Come Meet Atlanta Humane Society - Alpharetta's Pets

The Atlanta Humane Society's Alpharetta location is currently open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. for adoptions. While no appointment is necessary, out of an abundance of caution and due to social distancing requirements by the CDC, only a limited number of adopters will be permitted inside the building at a time.

When you arrive at our facility, please scan the QR code provided to add your name to our virtual waiting list, and you will be notified by text message when it is your turn.
