Areas Critter Mama Rescue serves

We are a small, No Kill Rescue, home based rescue south of Tampa, Florida serving the "South Shore" area.

In 2013 we became a Florida Non-Profit corporation, we are not yet a 501(c)3.

All of our rescued dogs live in our home or Foster Homes. Our rescues are typically under 25lbs, any sex, any breed. We also work with other area Rescue groups and individuals.

We are selective in our placement requiring an Adoption Application with verification and a Home Visit for each potential adoptive person. You need to live within 30 miles of Ruskin, FL. Typically you need a secured fenced yard to adopt from us.

All Pets in your home must be spayed or neutered before adopting from us.

About Critter Mama Rescue

Our President - Robin Roberts has been an animal lover her entire life. Animals naturally gravitate to her. Over 2013 she gathered area friends and community professionals to create Critter Mama Rescue, Inc. There is a warm outpouring of support, media coverage and private donations who continue to support the mission of this business.

We primarily work with one local Vet, Dr. Mark Wallace - About Pets, Inc - to care for all of our dogs and puppies we've rescued. We do occasionally rescue and re-home Cats and kittens under special circumstances.

Our Community relationships are the cornerstone of our ability to rescue, vet and care for abandoned, owner relinquished and neglected animals and then find them good, safe forever homes.

All of our work is done with a few faithful volunteers. These wonderful people assist us at local fundraising events where we occasionally showcase our adoptable dogs. Without our volunteers, continual fundraising efforts, our Board of Directors, and our community of support, we could not be as successful as we are in our goals for our rescue needing love, care and forever homes.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
