Areas Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley Serves

Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley serves shelters and rescues in East Tennessee. These counties include Knox, Monroe, McMinn, Meigs, Rhea, Roane, Loudon, Sevier, Anderson, Campbell, Union, Grainger, Hamblen, Jefferson, Cocke, Hawkins, Hancock, Uncoi and Washington counties. We also help Bell County, KY save more lives.

Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley's Adoption Process

1. Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

2. Interview

3. Submit Application

4. Approve Application

5. Sign Adoption Contract

6. Take the Pet Home

Our adoption fee covers an exam by our shelter veterinarian, spay/neuter surgery, up to date vaccinations, deworm, and micro-chip with registration. We also offer a complimentary follow-up wellness visit with one of our local veterinarians if you choose to schedule within 72 hours of adoption.

About Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley

Founded in 1885, the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley is the longest standing animal shelter in the State of Tennessee. A stand-alone 501c(3) limited admissions animal shelter, the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley receives no funding from national humane entities or government agencies; relying solely on private donations and grant funding.

Located in Knoxville, TN our organization is committed to our relationships with other shelters in the Tennessee Valley, by transferring animals at-risk for euthanasia, to our shelter for adoption. Our Adoption Center offers dog and cat adoptions along with lifesaving programs including outreach, foster, volunteer, education and Pet Safety Net to help keep animals in their homes and out of area shelters. Our Pet Help Program offers much needed resources for our community I need including our Pet Food Pantry for the underserved.
