1 - 20 of 97 Adoptable Pets at This Shelter
HALO is a no kill, non profit animal rescue and adoption center in Sebastian, Florida. What sets us apart from other shelters is we are Indian River County's only No Kill animal shelter. This means we do not euthanize for age, space, medical needs, etc. Once an animal enters HALO we make a pledge to cover all medical, physical and emotional needs before placing the animal up for adoption.
While we primarily deal with Indian River County and our mission is to make Indian River County No Kill we also bring in animals all over the state and even outside of Florida. This year alone we are projected to rescue over 2000 animals. We began in 2006 and are solely supported by private contributions and through our services. All tips and money you give go back to the rescue animals.
HALO saves over 2000 animals each year but over 2000 pets are still dying in shelters in Indian River county. HALO is here to prevent this because there is a better way. It doesn't have to happen. We depend on animals for everything including unconditional love but can they depend on us in return. In 2015 we are anticipating great expansion and look forward to a future where killing pets due to overcrowding, medical expenses, age, and behavioral issues is no longer the way.
Indian River county should be, as many other counties already are, a safe haven for these pets and this is HALO's mission. With 100% of donations going toward animal care, a lot of love and passion, and your help... the future is bright!
HALO Rescue is a no kill rescue and adoption center. We are Indian River County's only no kill shelter and yearly intake over 2000 dogs and cats.
HALO accepts these animals regardless of age, medical condition, or behavioral reasons as space permits. Once an animal enters the shelter we provide all emotional, medical, and behavioral needs before placing that pet in a forever family. All of our animals leave spayed/neutered, vaccinated, HW or Leuk/Aids tested, and microchipped.
In the community we work weekly with Goodwill providing education to our volunteers with disabilities.
We have also begun a program with Meals on Wheels, a senior resource center providing food to families with pets on the same rotation as their own meals are being delivered.
We are the first shelter to begin a community cat diversion program where we expect to reduce the number of cats being euthanized in our county shelter by a targeted 900 cats/kittens within the next year.
HALO is a network partner with Best Friends and we are always seeking innovative fresh ideas for getting pets out of shelters, into homes, and off the euthanasia lists.
We do not receive government funding but rely solely on donations, fundraisers and grants to continue our lifesaving work.
You can come and meet our animals at HALO anytime Monday-Friday 9-5 and Saturdays 10-4 at our main location on US1 at 710 Jackson St. Sebastian, Fl 32958.
We also have a cage free cat adoption center located at the Indian River County Mall and our furry felines can be seen there Monday & Tuesday 12-4, Wednesday & Thursday 11-6, Friday & Saturday 10-7, and Sundays 12-6!
