Humane Society of Washington County's Adoption Process

Adoption applications are required and are available on our website. We do require references and interview potential adopters. We do home visits periodically. All animals will be current on the vaccinations and be either spayed or neutered before adopted to individuals.
Our adoption fees range from $135.00 to $200.00 depending on the age of the dog. Adoption fees for cats are $80.00.

About Humane Society of Washington County

The Humane Society of Washington County was primarily an organization that provided spay and neuter funding for low income families. Spay and neutering is still at the front of our organization but we have also incorporated fostering and adoptions of animals. We are committed to see our community to become a no kill community. Our organization is not funded by local government, we rely only on spay neuter grants and fund raising. We have grown tremendously in the last year with over 100 dogs in foster care. Our cat program began in November of 2014 and is expanding into a feral program. We have 35 cats in our program and have located barns in our area that will let us place feral cats if individuals do not want them returned to their neighborhoods. We continually fund those in need of spay or neuter as well as all animals prior to adoption are spayed or neutered. To continue to grow, we need donations for our programs and those links are available on our website under giving. We also need volunteers. The volunteer application is also available on our website. Working together we will become a no kill community.
