Homeless Angels Rescue Team

This information is giving to you, as a guide of our adoption process, and protocol. We are happy to see our animals going to the best forever home, but we want to assure, the family and the pet are the perfect match. Our dogs are mainly rescued from shelters, bad homes environments, and strays. We work hard to rehabilitate, socialize, and make them the best companion. They are not perfect trained animals, and sometimes, new environments take a little time to adjust. Patience is the best way to help the process, and we are going to be available to help the new family as best as we can. We can also suggest excellent and affordable trainer if you like to go a little further on enriching their social skills.
We are a 100% spay/neuter rescue, which means ALL of our adoptable pets will be altered prior to adoption. We also require that your animals are altered as well. We exist because there are many homeless and neglected animals in the world that are in need and our way of working towards a No-Kill Nation is by requiring any of our foster &/or adoptive families to have altered pets. Any applicant that has an unaltered animal will be denied.
All of the animals in our rescue are living in homes, with their foster families. This is an environment we prefer over a shelter environment, where many of our rescued pets were saved from, going from a caged off section of a loud shelter or pound to a home environment is not an easy transition. We work very hard to acclimate these animals to living as a normal dog or cat would live in a home with a loving family. Any forever home for our rescued pets needs to be looking for a companion animal - a pet that will live primarily inside their home, not chained up outside. We understand that the majority of pets love spending time outside, and that is no issue by us. We just ask that the animal you are looking to adopt becomes a pet, not a lawn ornament or a 'guard dog'. Our rescued pets need to become a part of a family.
The decision to bring a pet into your family should be a family decision, not a surprise gift. Everyone, including the children, should educate themselves on the different breeds of dog or cat they are interested in to determine what would fit best into their lifestyle. Giving a pet to someone as a gift is assuming the pet you chose is what they need/want and choosing that they are willing to accept this responsibility and be willing to care for this pet for the next 15 or so years. Our adoption process consists of a 'meet and greet', where the animal meets everyone residing in the adoptive home - including other animals, as well as a 'home visit', where one of our volunteers visits the adoptive home to ensure it is a safe and appropriate new home for the specific animal. We will not approve an application for an animal that is going to be given as a gift or surprise

Adoption Process :

Our goal is to place homeless animals into loving homes and families. We take special care to match the right home with the right dog, ensuring a lifetime of love for both the pet and the adopter. To ensure the best matches are made, we have a process that has been proven effective in determining the best homes for our animals. Our adoption process may seem time consuming or unnecessarily complicated, but please understand that we have our animals’ best interests at heart. We strive to find the best homes possible for our animals, as well as find the right dog/cat for you and your lifestyle.

1. Fill out an Adoption Application: The first step is to have you fill out a pre-adoption application. This application will tell us about you and your lifestyle, training beliefs and background with animals.

2. Landlord Approval Verified: If it is determined that you rent your home, your landlord will be contacted to make sure you have approval to have a pet in your home. We also ask about any breed or size limitations. If your landlord does not allow for a animal in your home, your application will be denied at this point in the process.

3. Veterinary References : Our volunteers will contact the veterinary reference(s) you provided to determine if all your current pets are spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations. If you don’t have any current pets, we will ask about the veterinary care that your previous pets received. If you have never owned a pet, this step is skipped. If your veterinary reference(s) cannot verify the spay/neuter and vaccination status of current or previous pets, processing of your application will be stopped until you can provide this information.
4. Personal References: It is helpful if you contact your references and ask them to return our calls in a timely manner.
5. Home Visit and Interview: Our group requires home visits to determine that the animal will be living in a safe environment.. All household members must be present for the home visit. If our home visit volunteers have any major concerns about your home environment, or if you refuse a home visit, your application will be denied at this point in the process.

6. Adoption Contract and Adoption finalize: If you have decided upon a pet that you would like to adopt and are approved you are required to sign an adoption contract and to provide payment of the adoption donation fee. At that time you become the owner of the pet.

Thank you for taking the time to read our information. Thank you for choosing to adopt a rescued animal.
