Areas No Dog Forsaken serves

We are a small all breed dog rescue in Georgina Ontario, located about 1 hour north of Toronto. We serve dogs in need of foster and a second chance in life in the GTA area. We work with owner surrenders, local animal sheltars and stray dogs. We work closely with animal behaviourists in assessing all dogs coming into our care to carefully find them the right match when choosing a family. We take our time selecting the applicants and follow up on refferences and home visits before adopting out any of our dogs in our care.

Additional adoption info

When a dog is surrendered into our rescue they under go assessments for behavior with other dogs, cats and children before placing them in an appropriate foster home. All of our fosters have undergone background checks and home visits before being approved to volunteer with our rescue. We have no kennels all of our dogs are in Foster homes. We provide everything for the dog that our fosters require. We work with them closely to give them the support they require to work with the dog. Our dogs are then placed up for adoption on our website and facebook page. If someone contacts us about one of our dogs we ask them to fill out an application on our website. All refferences are checked prior to a meeting of our dogs. We set up a time for a meet and greet with our foster and applicant at our fosters home. If the meeting goes well and the dog responds well with applicant and family members then a home visit would be scheduled at the applicants home with all family members present. Once they pass the home visit if there needs to be a meet and greet with an additional family pet that would be done on non territorail grounds. If required we may ask applicant to provided proof of training classes purchased or we may provide purchase of training if necessary. Then a time is arranged for applicant to pick up there dog and the adoption paperwork and file is then transferred to the new owner.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
