Cortez Rescue & Outreach's Adoption Process

1. Submit Application

2. Home Check

3. Approve Application

4. Pay Fee

5. Take the Pet Home

Please inquire about our fees for our dogs and puppies.

A kennel fee of $50-$100 may be required for air transport (depending on size of kennel required).

We have a remote 'Home Check' process and will share this with potential adopters on request.

We organize transportation of our animals to your airport of choice based on the time of year and flight availability. An escort will chaperone your pet and will have with them all the necessary paperwork required for customs including health certificate and health records.

About Cortez Rescue & Outreach

Cortez Rescue & Outreach is one of the leading non-profit rescue groups in Baja California South serving the Los Barriles region. Our focus is the three pillars of supporting spay & neuter activities, re-homing and local responsible pet ownership.

We work with our partner based in Warren, OR who helps us with sending our dogs to the US and Canada - hence our OR address.

We are awaiting full registration as a Washington State 501 (c) (3) non-profit and also in Mexico.

We strive to achieve a high level of service for our adopters, and the care of our animals is our #1 priority. We work regularly with adopters and rescue groups in the USA and Canada and adhere to strict health and medical tests and regulatory requirements. Our dogs are normally always spayed or neutered before heading north - this varies if we are sending younger puppies. (References available on request).

Come Meet Cortez Rescue & Outreach's Pets

We work hard to find foster homes where we can for our pets before they head north to their forever homes.

Some of our dogs and cats are cared for in a wonderful facility managed by our Cortez Rescue & Outreach vet Dr Gretel de la Torre in Las Cuevas, close to Los Barriles in Baja California Sur.

For visitors to Baja, we can arrange viewings at the Cortez Rescue Center based in Las Cuevas - behind Dr Gretel's facilities.

We also work with our partner based in Warren, OR who helps us with sending our dogs to the US and Canada - hence our OR address.

Otherwise, we can arrange videos and Messenger interviews with foster parents on any dogs or cats that might be of interest to a potential adoptee.
