Additional adoption info

You can complete an adoption application here: http://bit.ly/2yJQKcC

Once an adoption application is submitted it is then reviewed by our adoption team. We conduct an interview with the applicant and check their vet and personal references. From there we complete a home visit and allow the adopter to take possession of the dog after the animal has been spayed/neutered.

About Pits and Giggles Rescue

Pits and Giggles Rescue was founded in the fall of 2017 by a group of friends who’s sanity should certainly be questioned ;-) They recognized a group of dogs falling through the cracks of local shelter and rescue organizations; pregnant mama dogs. Pregnant dogs are ill-suited for a shelter environment; the stress of the shelter can cause them to lose their litters or cause them harm. Additionally animal shelters are not designed to maintain the level of cleanliness that newborn puppies need. However, rescue groups, already overburdened with dogs, are often unable to make the 3 month minimum commitment to a pregnant dog and her babies. Pits and Giggles Rescue was conceived to address the unique needs pregnant dogs in rescue face. We provide safe shelter and medical care for mama dogs prior to birth. Then when the time to deliver comes, our mamas are able to spend time with their babies in a safe, secure environment until their puppies are weaned and ready to go to homes of their own. After weaning her babies our mama dogs are then placed in a foster home prepared for the transition mama will experience until she is ready to be spayed and placed in a forever home of her own.

Pits and Giggles Rescue is committed to responsible spay and neuter practices. All of our puppies are spayed or neutered before finalizing their adoption. For every mama that is adopted, we sponsor a spay for another female dog in need. An additional 5% of all proceeds will be applied to sponsoring spays & neuters for other dogs in need – preventing thousands more from ending up in local shelters.

This is only possible thanks to a team of very hardworking and dedicated volunteers who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience while maintaining our philosophy of keeping the welfare of the dogs our first priority. One of the strongest keys to our success is the network of volunteers and foster family homes who’ve teamed up with PGR. We do not operate out of a shelter so we rely on our volunteers who graciously open their hearts and their homes, offering temporary accommodations for our mamas and their babies.

With the support of so many, we strive to set a fine example, and maintain higher standards of excellence in our dog rescue community. PGR has volunteer/foster families throughout the greater Charlotte area. Won’t you consider joining our team? The more volunteers we have on board, the more dogs can be saved!

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
