Our volunteers rescue stray and found dogs on Edisto Island and in neighboring Colleton and Charleston County communities and then
provide shelter, food, vet care, and, most importantly, love until our
rescued dogs are healthy and socialized enough to be adopted.
All of our rescues receive basic veterinary care, including an initial exam, vaccinations and spay/neuter surgery, but many have additional healthcare needs that might require medications, treatment for heart worms and sometimes even surgery.
Our small group of dedicated volunteers treat our rescued pups as their own pets. At least twice a day, we walk, feed, play with, train all of our rescues. We make sure that their roomy kennels are as comfortable as possible, take them on “play dates” and to their vet appointments and try to insure they are ready for that special forever home.
We are a “no-kill” shelter and depend entirely on private donations. Our shelter is located on private property where there is plenty of room for the pups to be walked and play in a pastoral setting. Their roomy kennels are covered to protect them from the elements, and each also has an “igloo” where they can snuggle with their favorite toys.
Of course, as much as we try to provide our rescues with the best care and plenty of love, our goal is to get them into a loving forever home as quickly as possible!
