Sonoma County, California winemaker Mutt Lynch Winery has announced its support of homeless pet adoption, using its wine to promote animal welfare awareness and donating $10,000 over the course of 2010 to North America’s largest non-profit homeless pet adoption website, Adopt-a-Pet.com.
Mutt Lynch Winery, founded in 1995, produces award-winning wines with dog-themed labels and supports local animal rescue organizations’ pet adoption efforts, hence its name. Now its efforts have, for the first time, gone national via its support of Adopt-a-Pet.com. Chris Lynch, co-founder and co-owner of the winery says, “We love dogs and cats, and literally millions of them are killed in shelters each year simply due to a lack of homes. We just wanted to get the word out about all these great mixed-breed and purebred puppies and kittens. They are great high-quality family pets.”
“We are so happy to have this support,” says Adopt-a-Pet.com co-founder David Meyer. “Our service is used by over 8,800 animal shelters and pet rescue organizations across the US and Canada and we currently have over 130,000 homeless pets listed on our site. We can only help these great future family members if we get the word out about Adopt-a-Pet.com, so the support of companies like Mutt Lynch Winery is so important to us.”
Adding a touch of class to the animal welfare world, Mutt Lynch winery will be using its wines and its presence in stores across the country to help promote Adopt-a-Pet.com. Says, Lynch, “Let’s lift a glass of wine in honor of homeless pet adoption, and invite everyone to go and adopt a dog, adopt a cat or even adopt a rabbit, and then celebrate!”
About Mutt Lynch Winery:
Mutt Lynch Winery was founded by husband and wife Chris and Brenda Lynch nearly 15 years ago with two very important aims – produce excellent wines at its winery in Sonoma County and use its winery and wines to support nonprofit animal rescue organizations across the country whenever and wherever feasible. These dual passions have made Mutt Lynch Winery the most recognized “dog-friendly” artisan winery in the country. Their wines sport dog-centric labels, such as Unleashed Chardonnay, Fou Fou le Blanc Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot Over and Play Dead and Chateau d’Og Cabernet Sauvignon.
