Areas Cause for Paws serves

We are a nonprofit cat and kitten rescue and foster group. We are dedicated to helping the many stray and homeless cats and kittens in the Tioga P.A area. We also focus on TNR (trap, neuter, release) and when funding allows, we help cover the costs of spaying/neutering and medical expenses to those who can't afford it.

Additional adoption info

We do have an application that needs to be filled out. References from vets and friends/family will be required. All members of the household must sign off on the application to show that they understand that a pet is being brought into the home. If you live in a rental home, apartment or trailer park, you will be required to have a signed document from the owners stating it is ok for you to have a pet. Adoption fees are $125.00 per cat or kitten that is already spayed and neutered and vaccinated. This helps us cover the cost of the surgery and vaccinations that have already been provided to the cat or kitten. If you live locally, a home visit will be required prior to adoption approval.

About Cause for Paws

I started with Cause4paws located in Virginia in 2010, at first I was just a foster parent and was not much more involved than that. In 2013 I moved to P.A. to be nearer to my dad. I made an appointment with the vet and asked what rescue groups were in the area, she said, "pardon?" I repeated, rescue groups, I want to foster for a rescue group. She stated that there was the local shelter, and I said no, rescue groups, and she said to the best of her knowledge, there weren't any. Because I was still working with the group in V.A I did not volunteer for the shelter, I would make trips down to V.A and take adoptable cats and kittens down there to be placed for adoption through the local Petsmart stores. It soon became apparent that this area has an overwhelming number of homeless cats and kittens, and I was doing my best and spending all of my own money when I realized, I could no longer do this by myself. I needed the help of the community. So we got Cause4paws registered in the state of P.A as a non profit charitable organization and began the process of seeking donations and supplies. It was worked out much better than I initially anticipated, but due to the huge number of stray cats and kittens out there we still have a long way to go.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
