Here's what the humans have to say about me:
COURTESY POSTING: The Animal Rescue League - Bedford, NH
Wondering who this lovable giant is?... His name is Gibbs! Originally a southern boy, he came to NH where his life has so many new possibilities. You see his future was uncertain when he arrived at a high kill shelter in South Carolina. Luckily for him, his sweet face pulled at one of our rescuers heartstrings so he was chosen to make the journey up north.
Although this 3 1/2 year old Great Dane / Lab mix is almost 80 lbs, in his mind he is a “small pup” as he is more than happy to curl up in your lap. Gibbs likes to show his affection by leaning up against you, cuddling in close, the occasion kiss & ensuring you are close by simply by glancing in your direction. This love bug is very intelligent & likes to keep his mind occupied. Fluent in sit, stay, down & in the process of working on mastering other basic commands. Sometimes he is too smart for his own good as he taught himself how to unlatch gates, climb high fences (8 foot) & open crate doors.
Gibbs is an energetic boy who loves to stay fit. Life is an adventure & he can’t wait to see where it will bring him. Whether it be hiking in the mountains, running on the beach, a stroll around the neighborhood or a trip to the dog park it doesn’t really matter. Attending some agility classes would not only keep him active it would keep his mind engaged & happy. Throw in some tasty treats & you will have his undivided attention.
Ideally Gibbs would love to have a high fenced in yard with a run where he play safely & secure. He gets along very well with other pups but he really desires to be your sole furry love. Visiting his friends at the dog park is more his speed this way he doesn’t have to share you with them. He is not a fan of his feline companions & strongly requests to reside without them. Unfortunately he doesn’t understand kids & needs to find an adult home. If you are kid & petless & seeking the unconditional love a pup has to offer please come down to meet Gibbs. He so wants to find that special place he can finally call home.
