Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bernie is primarily a pug, and possibly a "puginese" --pug and pekingese. He weighs approximately 9 pounds and is just about one year old. Our rescue pulled him from a high-kill rural KY shelter, only to have him fall deathly ill within hours of getting out of jail. However, he's now a picture of good health and ready to find his forever home.
Bernie gets along great with all the dogs in his foster home, and they range from small to medium size, male and female. One of his best friends is a small chihuahua/rat terrier male dog, but he loves all the others. Bernie has not lived with cats in his foster home.
We feel Bernie would be best suited in a home without small toddler-aged children, only because he doesn't like to be picked up sometimes, and sometimes he doesn't like his feet touched! He has never bitten or attempted to bite, he just grumbles about such things. This happens mostly when he's sleeping or resting. Other than that he loves to be picked up and held, adores going on leashed walks and playing with other dogs. He's not a big cuddler as far as sleeping on laps or with people. He always gets up and moves! He does just fine in a crate at night, with his fluffy dog bed and a toy.
Bernie is an independent, very intelligent little guy,with a few quirks like most of us!
