My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rescue Transfer - Daisy Mae Pet Rescue on 3/24/14

Meet Penelope! If you looked up "bundle of fun" in the dictionary, you would see Penelope's picture there! This sweet little pug mix is located in Lexington, KY. She is just about a year old and his still quite the pup! Although she didn't have the best start to life, you would never know it. This sweet little girl loves EVERYONE! She is the perfect example of a "family dog". She does great with adults, children, dogs and cats (although she is still learning not to playfully chase cats when they run by her!).

Penelope is doing great in the housebreaking department. She wasn't housebroken when she arrived at her foster home, but she is SUCH a smart girl and has learned "house manners" very quickly.

Her favorite part of the day is when she gets to go for long walks. She LOVES to go for walks! Because she is part pug, she gets overheated if it is too hot out, she is a "shade" kinda gal :) But she'll walk for hours when it's cool out, in the mornings and/or evenings! If she cant go for a walk, her next activity of choice is playing fetch or running around in the backyard as fast as her little legs will take her! She is very playful and would love a home with a place to run around.

Penelope is crate trained. Because she is still a pup and needs to be crated while her owners are at work, she would do best in a home where her owners had flexible schedules where they could come home and walk her during the day, or with a stay at home owner, retired owner, part-time work owner, or a "work at home" owner. The one thing she is still learning is how to tell the difference between what she is allowed to chew on and what she is not allowed to chew on. Her dog toys look an awful lot like those balled up socks kids leave laying around! But she's a fast learner and we have no doubt she will perfect the "what to chew" skill soon!

Penelope would be happy as an only dog or with other dogs. She's just happy to be loved!

Penelope has received her distemper/parvo, bordatella and rabies vaccines, heartworm tested, flea/tick preventative, spayed, microchipped and dewormed. Her adoption fee is $125. If you have any questions about me, you can email foster mom Carey at googs@twc.com. She would be happy to answer any questions you may have about Penelope!

TWHRA is open to foster to adopt arrangements as well as out of state adoptions within a reasonable distance.
