My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE TALK TO US ABOUT A POSSIBLE PERMANENT FOSTER SITUATION FOR TEDISON!

Tedison is the epitome of the handsome street wise tom cat. He’s got the big round tom cat cheeks. A very confident attitude and a strut to go along with it. Tedison was transferred to us from another shelter and we have no information on his past history. We do know however that he is approximately 2 years old and FIV positive. FIV is the equivalent to human aids. It is not contagious to people or other animals, only other felines. So Tedison will need to be an indoor only cat and either the only feline in your home, or a companion to another FIV positive cat. As with humans, cats with FIV can live long and healthy lives. Even though he has FIV, Tedison does not require daily medication and he may not ever need any. In fact after examining Tedison our vet said he is in very good shape physically. Tedison hasn’t been with us for too long and is still figuring out his place in the Boys Pen (the pen where our FIV cats are housed, most of whom are male). He’s not aggressive with the other cats but he is definitely trying to assert himself and can be found staring other cats down, or casually following them around, possibly with the intention to intimidate. When he’s done with all this male stuff you can find him cuddled up on a perch at the farthest reaches of the outside porch greeting the volunteers as they go in and out of the shelter. When people visit him on the porch Tedison is happy being petted and really enjoys affection and he will gladly play if you tempt him :) Tedison is a good boy and he’ll make a wonderful addition to any family who’s looking for a young and playful guy.
Because of his medical status we are more than happy to consider a permanent foster placement for Tedison which means we will cover any medical expenses that he may incur down the road associated with his FIV.
