My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BIO UPDATE: 4/10/14 – Well, Miss Tilly is doing very well after her dental surgery. She had to have five small teeth removed and parts of her gums had issues but all that has been fixed now. She will be on antibiotics for another couple of weeks as well as anti-fungal meds to clear up her bacterial issue. After she is off meds completely she will be good as new and raring to go to a wonderful, new forever home.

In the past few weeks Tilly has become a very happy little dog. Her tail wags all the time and even though she remains skittish, she is definitely becoming more and more secure as time goes by. She will even go on short walks now with a little bit of love and coaxing! She is also our Weather Girl. She knows hours in advance of any bad weather coming and will hide under the bed, shaking. However, with lots of hugs and kisses we are trying our best to assure her that she is safe.

Even though it will be a few short weeks before she is available (her mouth needs to heal and her fungal test needs to come back clear), we are accepting applications for Silly Tilly so if you think you could be the right home for this funny little girl, please fill out an application. We’d love to hear from you!

INITIAL BIO 3/1/14: “Silly” Tilly (full name is Chantilly Lace) is an owner surrender and is being fostered in McKinney, TX. Tilly is very sweet but very skittish. She is 7 years old and weighs 7.3 pounds (she’s slightly chunky and needs to lose a pound). She has a beautiful face with very long legs. Tilly was a breeder for the first 2 years of her little life and then she was adopted. After 5 years with her family, they can no longer afford her upkeep and healthcare so they left her at the shelter. So sad for everyone…

She currently has minor eye and ear infections and is recovering from ringworm and a bacterial infection that she had at her previous home. She will also be having her teeth cleaned. As soon as she finishes her meds she’ll be as good as new and ready to find a forever home. Tilly really is a sweetheart who, once she trusts you, gives little kisses and rolls over for her tummy to be tickled. She loves her food! She is mostly potty trained and uses both piddle pads and goes outside. She doesn’t give a sign about wanting to go outside so a piddle pad by the door is a good idea. Tilly obviously has not been taken on walks as she is terrified of being outside on a leash. We are working on that and taking her for “walks” in our arms to get her used to being on a leash outside.

Tilly gets on well with other small dogs. She likes both men and women but is very timid until she gets to know you. She needs a home that understands how her previous life as a breeder causes her to be extremely scared of noises and too much activity. She is prone to hide when frightened. A home with a single person or a couple would be perfect. No large families or small children as she would be too intimidated. A home where Tilly would be either an only doggie or with one or two other small doggies would be ideal. She will need lots of understanding and hugs to bring her fully out of her shell. Tilly does not need to be crated at all as her behavior is impeccable. She is not demanding in any way but is so happy to have gentle attention paid to her.

If you feel you have a quiet, loving home that could include “Silly” Tilly, then please contact Cynthia Stewart. Tilly should be ready for adoption within a few short weeks. This wonderful little girl deserves an equally wonderful home for the rest of her life.
