My story

King is a happy dog who has a real zest for life. He loves being around people and being the center of attention, but also can entertain himself with his toys. King's favorite toy is his jolly ball and he loves running around the yard with it in his mouth. He also enjoys playing a game of fetch. King can be a bit particular in his dog friends, and seems to enjoy the smaller pups. King gets along well with cats and is very tolerant when his foster kitties brush up against him, but he does have resource guarding issues and will chase the cats away from food. King loves humans of all ages and sizes, but due to his size and exuberance, he should not be placed in a home with small children. He is being fostered in a home in MN.
King has taken some obedience classes and knows some commands, including "sit", "down", "stay", "wait" and "come". He has also made a lot of progress on his impulse control issues. King loves to go for long walks and does well with his gentle leader. King gets excited when he sees objects that are moving, such as cars, bikes and children, but he is able to be refocused on his person with the help of some tasty treats.  King is crate-trained and house-trained.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Welcoming a pet into your home is a commitment of time, patience, money and love. You should think very carefully and do your research before adopting any animal. Rescued Tails Animal Sanctuary spays / neuters all companion animals before adoption. All animals are vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested (dogs), feline leukemia tested and microchipped. If you find an animal that you are interested in on our web site please call, or e-mail us, and we will gladly tell you more about that special animal. Our experienced volunteers will help you select a companion animal that will fit your personality and lifestyle. We want you to experience a rewarding, lifetime relationship with your new companion. If you find a furry friend you wish to adopt you will fill out an adoption application and then a home visit will be set up. At the time of adoption you will fill out an adoption contract and pay the adoption donation.

Go meet their pets

Some of our pets live at our sanctuary in Shell Lake, WI, and others are fostered in homes in the Twin Cities, MN area. We do adoptions days at least once a month. We can make arrangements for you to meet any of our pets on an appointment basis.

More about this rescue

Rescued Tails is a small group of volunteers who believes that every life is valuable, and that every healthy or treatable animal is worth saving. We have an affinity for those animals whose chances of being rescued from impounds or kill-shelters are minimized due to breed, age, temperament and/or color. We provide training or seek medical treatment when applicable to ensure that every one of our animals gets a chance at a new beginning.
