My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SCRUFFY AND WHISKERS ARE BEING LOVING FOSTERED IN A PRIVATE HOME IN HOUSTON, TEXAS.

Scruffy & Whiskers are a 2 year old bonded pair. Scruffy (female) and Whiskers (male) were surrendered by their owner due to lack of funds and time. She loved the pair very much and wanted to make sure they found safe, loving homes so she contacted NBGR. Could you be the family for awesome, cuddlesome twosome?

This darling duo are very outgoing and love everyone they meet. They get along well with other dogs, love to play together and do their best to entice their foster siblings to join in the fun. They are doing well with housetraining but need to be watched closely until they learn their new routine. They are crate trained, leash trained and are working on basic commands.

Each adores sitting or sleeping on your lap - if possible, both at the same time. When working in the kitchen or at your desk they both snuggle on top of your feet. They love to be brushed, enjoy taking baths and are crazy for toys. Every morning they run to the toy box and manage to pull out all the toys then continue to play with them throughout the day. They sleep quietly together in their crate at night but would love to share the big bed with their new family.

Scruffy weighs 10 lbs., but Whiskers was severely over weight when he came to us. Through diet and exercise he shed six pounds but he needs to shed two more. Right now he weighs 12.4 lbs. Whiskers has a tiny frame and should keep his optimum weight at 10 lbs.

Both Scruffy & Whiskers, are altered, up to date on vaccinations, micro-chip, heartworm negative and on preventative. All they need now is a loving family who has a little extra space on their laps, love in their heart and willingness to see that Whiskers stays at a healthy weight.

Whiskers had successful corrective luxating patella surgery April 17. Even though he was very active and showed no signs of being in pain, we didn’t want to take of chance of injury so we opted for the repair. He will be undergoing rehab over the next eight weeks and we anticipate a full recovery. Our estimated date of release is June 12. Once we have the release from his surgeon Whiskers and Scruffy will be ready to meet their forever family.

Application review will continue for these two so if you would like to welcome two of the sweetest to your home please let us know by completing the adoption application found on our website. Please understand under no circumstance will these two be split up.

If you would like more information, please contact Connie Lawrence at conniel@andell.com.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
