Ixia and Ollie are a striking pair of 5 year-old German Shepherds, bonded siblings who are in need of a new home. Their owners are retired; they are relocating and cannot take the dogs with them. The dogs have all the best shepherd qualities; they are intelligent, loyal, good with people, including children, and love to be involved in family activities.
At 70 lbs Ixia is the smaller of the two, yet she is the alpha of the pair. According to her owners, she is bright and pretty like her namesake, the Ixia flower. She is a good companion, who will stay close to you and go everywhere with you if invited. She is attentive, observant and always aware of her surroundings. Like her brother, Ixia is a good watchdog and will bark when strangers come onto the property.
Also like Ollie, Ixia loves to travel, camp, swim and play ball. Both dogs enjoy running off leash and are responsive to voice commands. They are healthy, current on all shots and have vet records from when they were 9 weeks old. Both are house-trained and crate-trained. Seasonal allergies are kept under control with Benadryl. Ixia does exhibit a slight limp if she has been very active, but this has been examined and no treatment was indicated.
Ixia and Ollie should be adopted together. They are used to sleeping indoors (and in tents) with their family. If you are interested, their current owners will be happy to answer any questions and provide further descriptions.
