My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Levi is a super cute young puppy who hasn't had the greatest start in life. At less than a year old, he was found wandering out in the country alone and afraid. No way to tell how long he had been on his own but , he is now safe in his loving foster home.

It has been several weeks and he is just learning to relax. He loves all the six resident dogs, a real social butterfly with the big girls. The old lab and boxer are his new BFF's.

We will never know what this boy has been through but it is evident that he was not treated well by humans. He is unsure and terrified, especially of men. He will not walk on a leash at all, so only a forever home that has a doggie door will be considered. He feels safest in a pack of other dogs.

Because of his fears, we think it would be too traumatic to have children around him. Levi is a puppy, so he does chew. So an ample supply of doggie toys is a must.

Once he gets acclimated to a new home we feel it's just a mater of time and patience to see his true self. He is a puppy and needs to form a bond with his new family. He will take a treat out of your hand, but is still wary and will run if approached. He loves peanut butter, popcorn and treats. His favorite hiding spot is under the bed where he can't be grabbed.

Levi will need an experienced LADY (preferably one who has dealt with rescued dogs) with lots of patience and love to give. He will make someone a great addition to your family but you must know it may take many months to see his true loving self. We also will not put him on a transport, so an adopter would have to travel to get him. He is in southern South Carolina, near the Charleston area.

So, if you think you are up for a challenge and a long term relationship with a super cute DUDE. ... You must be a woman, have a doggie door, a fenced secure yard, no children and several other dogs.

He is heart worm negative, neutered, up to date on all shots, microchipped, house trained with a doggie door. Levi weighs a healthy 20 lbs and loves to eat.

To find out more about LEVI, call his foster mom, Kay at 843-636-9897. To adopt Levi, go to bostonrescueofsc.com and fill out the adoption application--but call his foster mom first. Levi's adoption fee is $300.
