From Penny's foster mom: Meet our little spitifire, Penny! She acts even younger than her age. Penny came to ESRA because her previous family didn't have the time to give her the attention she needed. This beautiful girl's fur is so soft! Her lovely, almost butter-colored coat and some copper markings on her feet lead us to believe that she is a lemon English Springer.
Penny lived outside until she arrived here, so everything indoors is new to her. I started the washing machine the first night she was here, and she sat in front of it, wondering where the sound was coming from. She got scared and jumped back when I opened the dishwasher.
Penny is very sweet. She craves attention and loves to cuddle on the sofa when she gets tired. She is smart and has tackled housetraining like a champ. Penny is crate trained and sleeps on a puppy bed next to our bed at night. When we took her to a public store that allows dogs, this charming, pretty girl attracted many admirers.
Our little darling would be best with someone who realizes that puppies need direction and who has time to spend teaching her. To appease her chewing desire, we have supplied her with lots of heavy-duty tough toys. Penny needs a fenced-in yard that is quite secure, as she has a tendency to slip under gates and fences where there is enough room for her to do so. She loves the company of her canine foster siblings and follows them around the house.
This little girl still has some growing up to do, but she will blossom into a wonderful companion for a Forever Family who can give her the love and guidance she needs. If our "shiny Penny" sounds like the dog for you, please contact her case managers at the e-mail address below.
Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Penny.
