Buddha's Story...
Living up to his name, this gentle dog sits or stands quietly in his kennel, never barking, but always watching, with vigilance and hope. Buddha arrived at the shelter in rather bad shape, emotionally and physically. Fearful of human interaction, he would cower in the corner of his kennel when attempts were made to connect with Buddha. After several weeks of good nutrition and gentle attention from shelter staff and volunteers, Buddha seems to be feeling healthier and is learning to trust people again. He can now be seen walking with his companion through Aquatic Park, head held higher and face muscles more relaxed than we've known them to be. This unusual mix of pit bull and Spaniel has resulted in a delicate-looking, sweet, but sometimes high-strung dog who sorely needs the stability and tenderness only a forever-home can provide.

Act quickly to adopt Buddha. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Buddha, a Berkeley American Pit Bull Terrier/Saluki dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Pit Bull Terrier/Saluki for sale in Berkeley, or seeking a American Pit Bull Terrier/Saluki dog from a breeder in Berkeley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Berkeley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Berkeley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Pit Bull Terrier/Saluki breeders who help with American Pit Bull Terrier/Saluki rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Berkeley paves the way for another one to be saved.
