Here's what the humans have to say about me:
UPDATE - ADOPTED!!! We are so thrilled for our beloved friend, Jasper! He finally found his forever home!
Jasper's new family is truly exceptional. This family has always rescued dogs and they embrace all the hound-dog goofiness that Jasper has to offer. He's now lounging it up on comfy dog beds in a calm environment with two dedicated adults and a little girl that adores him. He also has a female border collie his same age as a companion. Jasper even has a secure acre to explore every day! His new family plans on taking him camping so he will have lots of adventures.
Jasper is a true hero of a dog. After we rescued him from a horrible neglect situation, he endured nine eye surgeries and needed a lot of rehabilitation. Today his vision is great and he's a healthy and happy dog now. We are so very proud of you, Jasper! Our love goes with you, sweet boy.
When we rescued Jasper from a sad situation in 2013, his eyes were very infected & his back legs were atrophied from living in a crate for so many years. He would fall down as he ran, and his eyes must have caused him a great deal of pain. Jasper has been getting better while at a safe & loving foster home.
Jasper’s left eye was corrected easily but his right eye continued to be problematic. Jasper has been through NINE eye surgeries to his right eye due to entropion (where his eyelashes grow inwards irritating his eye) which was neglected for years. Had he not been rescued when he was he would have lost his right eye for sure. Jasper’s new specialist is confident that the last surgery was the final correction needed. Jasper luckily has NO vision damage, and his eyelashes are no longer touching his eye anymore! All the surgeries have deformed Jasper's right eyelid, but all he needs is daily eye drops to prevent infection. He's such a wonderful dog and has come such a very long way -- and we are so proud of him!
Jasper is a fun-loving fellow that just needs a home of his own -- he has waited SO many years! He is a male Redbone Coonhound or Bloodhound mix born January 2008. Jasper is a very sweet dog that has the ability to make you laugh multiple times a day with his goofy nature. Jasper is very loyal and kind -- he would make anyone a great companion. He adores people and is socialized with other dogs his size; Jasper loves to run in a secure yard with his dog friends. Jasper also really enjoys playing fetch. He is about 70 pounds.
Jasper is extremely eager to please people and is learning everything we are teaching him. He is practicing house manners, leash walking and basic obedience. Jasper LOVES people. If given the chance, he will learn more and more! We think Jasper's goofy ways, slobbery grin and floppy ears make him extra special -- his hound-dog bark is also pretty impressive. We have included a picture from Jasper's very first encounter with a child. Although he has had limited contact with them, he seems to truly adore children.
If interested in adopting Jasper, please contact us at SacredPawsDogs@gmail.com. A volunteer will call within 24 hours. Jasper is current on routine vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and on monthly preventive.
Jasper's adoption contribution is $200, and will help care for other dogs in our program.
