Samantha is very gentle, has a sweet personality, loves people, and will lift her hooves for the farrier. Samantha is 22 years old and blind. She likes to be groomed and scratched. She likes her fly mask to be worn year around. Samantha is cautious about other horses because of her blindness. If she is with another horse she needs a very gentle one. Samantha was examined in May of 2014 by the veterinarian and found to be in good health.
Samantha needs a new home ASAP. Samantha is very afraid of loud noises such as fireworks and gunshots. A neighbor next to Samantha's home has put up a firing range, so there is frequent shooting. Whenever Samantha hears the gunshots, she gets very upset. Unless the adopter knows in advance of the shooting and has time to halter Samantha, she will run around her paddock the entire time the shooting is occurring. The situation has become very stressful to Samantha and to her adopter. In addition to the stress, it is feared that Samantha will hurt herself by accidentally running into the fence (since she is blind).
Samantha was blind when she was adopted 8 years ago, and she has been lovingly cared for by her adopter. Although it is stressful to move a blind horse, it is more stressful for Samantha to remain in her current situation. A sweet horse like Samantha deserves to have a stress free home again. Please open up your heart and your home to Samantha.
