My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

All HSWA dogs are in foster homes and need an appointment to be seen. Please call 205-554-0011 or email humaneswa@yahoo.com to request an appointment to see the dog/puppy and to check availability. Before choosing a pet, we recommend meeting the pet or asking questions first.

Petunia the pint-sized pup just wants a chance at finding the perfect home for her! She knows exactly what she wants - you!!

Meet Miss Petunia, a young 1-year-old female Chihuahua/Yorkshire terrier mix. She has a medium-long, scruffy black, brown and white coat. She is tiny, weighing only 4.5 pounds – and this is full-grown! Petunia was pulled from our city animal shelter, where she had been picked up as a stray and no one came to claim her after being there for over 3 weeks. Poor little girl!

Petunia may be dainty, but she is packed with attitude! Of course, she has some Chihuahua in her! She is very sweet, loving and playful. But then she is ready for a lap to snooze and cuddle in. She has life all figured out!! She must be an inside dog and must be watched when outside, since being so small, she is too easy of a target for other animals. Petunia did bark and growl at the cats at the shelter so she may not do well with them. She will not be adopted out to families with children younger than 12 due to her small size. We have started on her crate training. Petunia is up to date on her vet care, spayed, heartworm negative and is microchipped. She is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. You can't get any cuter than this – wild hair and all!!

Our flat adoption fee is $75. All animals have received tests and vaccinations, and have been spayed/neutered if 5 months or older. Adopters receive copies of vet records. Read more info on our adoption process at www.humanesocietyofwa.org/howtoadopt.html. Then, if you feel your home might be the right forever home and you would like to adopt a dog, submit an adoption application or email us at humaneswa@yahoo.com for more info. If you're concerned about availability before getting to meet the pet, we recommend submitting an application first. A preliminary application does not bind you to adoption for a specific animal or to adopt at all. We do not charge a fee to apply.
To apply for adoption, submit an online application or contact us for more info or for an appointment to meet this dog.
