My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This handsome young lad is Freedom. His story is truly a heartbreaking situation. A serious illness plagued his family leaving them unable to care for their beloved pet. Finding no feasible alternative they wanted to give him a chance at finding a new life where he will be spoiled, cared for & loved furever. Now he wakes up every morning not understanding what forced his family to depart with them. Sometimes life just doesn’t seem fair.

Freedom is an intelligent 1 year old German Shepherd who proudly lives up to the traits of his breed. He is a very loyal & devoted true friend to those he loves & trusts. He happily greets people with a wagging tail & a smile from ear to ear. Keeping his family safe is one of his main priorities & wanting to ensure they are out of harms way. You will never have to fear anything with him by your side. Sticking to you like glue when out & about & cuddling close at the end of the night. It’s remarkable the loving vibes he gives off. Relishing in all the attention he can get his paws on, hoping to steal your heart away.

Searching for a new family that is savvy in his breed. One that will provide him with all his heart desires. Love, security, care, dedication, understanding & most of all providing him the direction & guidance through life that he so desperately needs. He needs someone who will be committed to his success. Knowing what is expected of him & having a job to do will keep him remarkably happy. He’s ready to impress you with his knowledge just take his paw & teach him the ways. Engaging him in positive training methods will make his personality shine like the stars.

Freedom is the ideal companion. He does great with other pups & doesn’t mind cats at all. Since he is such a big boy weighing 93 lbs & still very young in age a home with kids 16+ would be more his speed. A home where he can get plenty of exercise, lots of attention & the love he craves. Freedom is just a big marshmallow who can’t wait to find his happily ever after. Maybe he is just what you are looking for? If you want to meet some great pups stop by the shelter & see who might peek your interest. They are all wonderful creatures who simply need someone to love them.

Note: As with all of our dogs, we strongly recommend obedience classes for new owner and dog to create a life-long bond with the adopted dog based on trust, respect and rewarding training experiences. We are offering dog training classes through FMAS Wagtime Dog Training. You can check out more information at www.fmaswagtime.com. We can help you train practical skills you use every day with positive reinforcement training. Our shelter dogs are strays and we observe and assess their behavior at the shelter which may be somewhat different in a home environment. In addition dogs adopted from the Manchester Animal Shelter are spayed/neutered, microchipped and have received their Rabies and distemper vaccinations as well as other necessary medical care such as flea treatment. All dogs are also heartworm tested. Some prudent care such as heartworm medication is not provided at the shelter and should be taken care of at the earliest convenience upon adoption.
