My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Roxy is a gorgeous sable 8 months-old German Shepherd puppy who has a sad story to tell. One day her first "family" decided that they no longer want her. In the middle of January they dumped her in a park to fend for herself and freeze and starve to death. Luckily a kind neighbor found out about this, found Roxy in the park and took her home. Unfortunately the resident female did not accept Roxy, so, after two weeks, she finally ended up at the shelter. At the shelter Roxy was so depressed and scared that she would not even get up when visitors came to her kennel run. We were contacted to help Roxy when her time was up.

Roxy is adjusting beautifully in her foster home and starting to act like a happy puppy she is supposed to be. She enjoys exploring and sniffing every inch of her new yard and foster home and bouncing around in the yard. She is well behaved in the house and seems to be housebroken - she needs to be let out at reasonable time intervals. Roxy is crate trained and does well in the crate. She is initially shy with new people, but she warms up quickly and she is looking forward to making new friends. She seems to like kids and wants to play with them. Since she is pretty energetic, she can knock down a small child in the heat of the game.
We are working with her on obedience and she is making great progress. She knows the sit command and we are working on the down. Roxy walks pretty well on the leash.
She gets quite excited around cats, so a cat-free home would be the best for her. She can be scared around new dogs and can bark at them, so she needs some time and proper introduction to get used to a new dog.

Roxy is up-to-date on shots, heartworm negative and on prevention. She is also microchipped. She was spayed recently and is recovering well after the surgery.
