About GUS
YES, he is really that cute and quite the dog! He is one happy, healthy, fun little guy. He is half Yorkie and half Cairn. Gus is fun and funny and extremely devoted. He doesn't miss a beat and is ready for everything. He is ALWAYS with you, eager to please, smart and very, very affectionate.

Gus's coat might look wiry but he is very soft and cuddly. He changes colors from dark grey, to blue, to silver and seems to have a lot of different "looks". As you can see he looks different in each of his pictures. I call him my dog of many colors..... Gus does not require professional grooming, just a trim now and then. Gus is beyond cute and weighs in at a whooping 7 pounds. As an added bonus Gus is no/low shed!

Gus is one of those special foster dogs that just moves into your home and your heart with such ease. He is much loved here. You can find Gus curled on someone's lap, in the nearest dog bed at your feet, beating you to the door to go along in the car or curled at the foot of the bed. He seems to meld into any situation and enjoys life to the fullest

Gus came to us from a rural county pound where his owner had to leave him when she moved and he couldn't come along. Our vet aged him at 8 or 9 at the most, his owner said he was 13 - whatever - he has the spunk of a 7 year old. This boy is FUN! He loves to play with toys and play fetch. He gets along with dogs of all sizes. He is crate trained (but never needs one), leash trained, house trained, loves everyone and everything that he meets. He is crazy about the car and going for walks. He is not arthritic. He does have some cataracts but no signs of vision impairment and some hearing loss (or maybe he's just being a terrier) and a slight heart mummer that causes him no problems. He went through his neuter surgery and dental without a glitch. Gus has been on a raw diet since coming into rescue and we feel that diet will continue to keep him healthy and active for many years. A diet of either Primal or Instinct raw, no grain will be great for him.

Gus loves being outside, runs and plays in the yard, monitors the squirrels and horses in the pasture. He is used to using a doggie door. When he first came into rescue he slept in a crate but has managed to worm his way into our bed. Sorry, we couldn't help ourselves... Gus is VERY much into his people!

Gus's needs someone who likes a dog to go places with them and be a BIG part of their life, likes to take a dog in the car and on walks. Gus's adoption requires a fenced yard and someone who is home more than an 40 hour work week allows; someone who works from home, works part time or is retired. Gus would be fine with older visiting children but probably would prefer not to live everyday with them. He is fine with another dog but is even better being the only dog and getting ALL the attention.

This little velcro dog is just about perfect in every way! Make sure to check out Gus's video to see this fun guy at play!
