My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

All HSWA dogs are in foster homes and need an appointment to be seen. Please call 205-554-0011 or email humaneswa@yahoo.com to request an appointment to see the dog/puppy and to check availability. Before choosing a pet, we recommend meeting the pet or asking questions first.

This sweet puppy needs a forever home!!

This good-looking young man is Sam, a 4-month-old (as of 10/14) Retriever/Labrador mix. He has a smooth golden red and white coat, and he is all legs and ears right now! Sam has more growing and filling out to do, because he is only 21 pounds right now, but will be a big dog, probably around 60 pounds when full-grown. Sam was pulled from our city animal shelter, where he had been picked up as a stray by Animal Control. He had been down there over a month, so he really needed to get out!

Sam is very friendly, social and fun!! He has a lot of energy, but all in a happy-go-lucky way. As with any puppy, he will need training and structure to help him develop into a well-mannered adult dog. Sam will require a fenced-in yard. He would love to have another companion to play with or children ages 12 and over to help get his energy out. We have started on his crate training. Sam is up to date on his vet care, neutered and microchipped. He is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Look at the sweet face! Don’t you need this dog in your life?!

Our flat adoption fee is $75. All animals have received tests and vaccinations, and have been spayed/neutered if 5 months or older. Adopters receive copies of vet records. Read more info on our adoption process at www.humanesocietyofwa.org/howtoadopt.html. Then, if you feel your home might be the right forever home and you would like to adopt a dog, submit an adoption application or email us at humaneswa@yahoo.com for more info. If you're concerned about availability before getting to meet the pet, we recommend submitting an application first. A preliminary application does not bind you to adoption for a specific animal or to adopt at all. We do not charge a fee to apply.
To apply for adoption, submit an online application or contact us for more info or for an appointment to meet this dog.
