ADOPTED

If you would like more information about Sophie please email Connie at conniel@andell.com or fill out our adoption application at www.brusselsgriffonerscue.org

Sophie is currently being lovingly fostered in a private home in the San Antonio area.

Sophie came to NBGR when there was a puppy mill raid in the San Antonio area. She was rescued along with 100 other dogs. Kept in horrid conditions, she had lived her entire life (5 years) in a wire cage.

Today Sophie is living with a foster family and doing really well! She is 5 years old and weighs 16 pounds.

Sophie sleeps in her crate all night. She is also learning how to play and she enjoys dragging dirty clothes through the house! She loves to lay in the sun and roll in the grass, (something she never got to feel or do until she was rescued).

She is a bit of a food hog, currently she is fed separately from the other dogs in her foster family’s home. She is also jealous of the other two dogs, but we are working on that. I’m sure that now she has bonded with someone who shows her affection and love, she doesn’t want to share that with anyone for fear she might lose it.

Sophie is a typical Griff, she will either follow her foster mother everywhere or if she’s in the same room, she follows her every move with her eyes. She is friendly but is a bit uneasy around men (her puppy mill owner was a man) so we can understand that with her previous life. We are sure that in time she will learn that men can be just as loving as women.

Sophie is very laid back and enjoys to cuddle. She is starting to come out of her shell and is showing signs of a happy Griff in there!

As far as potty training this girl… Sophie gets an A++++! She is taken out regularly and will use a pee pad inside the house. This is quite a feat for her considering her previous house was a wire cage and her bed, bathroom and dining room were in the same place.

She is fine with kids older than 10 years old, but seems very nervous around children younger than that, so a home with older children is preferred.

Also Sophie enjoys walking on her leash now! Getting out and moving around has been a real blessing for this precious girl.

Do you have room in your house for a dog that deserves the best of everything? She spent her entire first 5 years of life in a wire cage and we want to make sure the rest of her life is surrounded with pillows, blankets, hugs and kisses!

Sophie is spayed, current on vaccines, heart worm negative and on prevention.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
