My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Phoebe. She is the white dog in the photos. This short and stocky girl is quite the head-turner and gets a lot of attention anywhere she goes.
Phoebe would love to go to a home with other pets, preferably at least one dog. She previously lived with a small dog and a few cats. I do not have cats but she did meet one at a relative’s house and calmly walked away when the cat hissed and swatted at her. She is currently living with a large dog and she is perfectly fine with him. She would like it if he would play with her but she has respectfully given up for the most part. She also had a 4-5 month old puppy here to play with and they were BFFs!
Phoebe seeks the attention of people and really enjoys being around them. Interestingly, you won’t get the wiggly-waggly-smother-you-with-kisses-greeting you would expect. She often appears emotionless so if you are looking for a dog that gets visibly excited to see you, Phoebe is not for you. If you do, however, like to get out of bed in the morning without commotion or bringing in your groceries before letting her out of her crate, she may be your girl ;-). No worries, she will love you and often wants to be near you and touch you. She just doesn’t show it like most dogs. This girl initiates play in a different way, by biting and while she means no harm this may not be the best fit for little ones.
Phoebe loves learning. Phoebe is clicker trained. It took her a while to figure out what learning was all about but now she can’t get enough of it! She has already taken a basic/foundation skills group class and is currently enrolled in agility, which she absolutely loves!!! Learning with your dog is so much fun!
Phoebe loves to chew on hard toys and chew items, such a bison bones, bully horns, hoofs, sticks and hard Nylabones. No soft toys (unless very durable) for this girl as she will tear them apart quickly.
Phoebe has a calm demeanor and she is not overly active. She does love going on walks though running a marathon (or running at all!) is not for her. She will get spurts of energy throughout the day, and get the zoomies, but they don’t last long.
Like some other bulldog/bully type dogs, she has some yeast issues and frequent ear issues. She has been seen by veterinarians and a chiropractor and has been/is being treated to get things under control though we have not been able to eliminate it all. Truth be told, this will most likely be an on-going issue that will need managed. Currently, her ears are clear (for now). It was veterinarian recommended that she eat a grain-free diet with attention to protein source. She has been on a grain free venison formula that seems to have helped very much. Please consider the cost of possibly more frequent vet visits, treatments/medications, and food if you interested in her.
Phoebe will need to be crated when you leave your house. She has no problem with her crate.
Phoebe loves animals so much that she has difficulty walking past them. We are working hard on remediating this quirk.
Phoebe is approximately 2 – 2 ½ years old and weighs 58 pounds.
