My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hunter is a 4 year old black and tan male purebred German Shepherd, 100+ pounds, looking for a fresh start and family to call his own!

Hunter does not have a perfect track record but this is a special dog -- he is a hero, plain and simple. His previous owner was assaulted at her home by an intruder, who was later arrested and turned out to be a convicted rapist -- Hunter saved the day, attacking the intruder, and likely preventing his owner from being raped. Unfortunately, his owner had to give him up as she could not care for him due to health issues, and Hunter went to a situation with poor leadership, and came to us with a bite record.

This is a loving dog though -- he gives kisses and LOVED and fiercely protected a child at his last home -- he's very playful, loves playing fetch and jumping around in the water -- a big piece of property that he could run around and have a blast on would be a dream come true for this dude.

As far as other animals go, Hunter has done ok with some of our dogs at times, but in general Hunter is a HIGHLY dominant dog, who would not take well to being challenged by other animals. This is not a dog park dog. A situation without other dogs is best, and we definitely don't want him in a home with cats or very young kids.

Hunter is affectionate, loyal, obedient, house-trained, crate trained, is neutered and knows commands. He would make an EXCELLENT guard dog due to his protective nature, confidence, and size. That said, we want him going to a family life, not trolling a junkyard. This is a dog who needs a second chance, but we are very selective where he goes. He needs a strong, RESPONSIBLE, alpha leader who has experience handling power breeds, and will put him in positions to succeed.

If you can provide the necessary situation for Hunter and his success and are serious about possibly adopting him, please contact us and a meeting can be arranged.
