My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Hi, nice to meet you. My name is Junior and I am a good boy of about 1 ½ years old. Although my humans call me Junior, I don’t answer to it because I cannot hear my name. I am deaf. Don’t let that scare you. I’m fine. I just need a forever family that is willing to help me learn hand commands and some time to practice with them. My foster family is teaching me a few basics hand signs but I still need lots of practice.

Did I tell you I am a happy dog? I am. I am also very curious about everything. I discovered there is a very handsome reflection of me when I sit in front of the stove or dishwasher. I like to watch, bark and growl at my reflection. And because I’m still young, I also have a tendency to let my curiosity get me into trouble. I don’t think foster mommy wants me chewing on things in the house so she gives me toys to chew on. I have foster doggy sisters too. They are very helpful to me because I can watch them for clues as to what is going on around me or what I should be doing. They also run and play with me which is good because I have lots of energy. That’s me in a nutshell. My foster family and I are getting along great and we are learning a little bit more about each other every day. I have even met the little humans and they are pretty cool too. They like to share their treats with me until foster mommy makes them stop."

Junior has been a welcoming experience for all of us in my home. We have all had to learn how to communicate with a deaf dog, and we are still learning. As he becomes more familiar with the goings-on in the house, he seems to understand more of our body language, which cues him on what we want/don’t want him to do.

He is heartworm negative, up-to-date on his shots, neutered, and micro-chipped. I will be happy to talk with anyone interested in adopting Junior. He is not house-broken but we are working on that. He is smart so his training will go well for everything. It will just take a little time and work for him to learn. I do believe he would best fit a family that has a hearing dog. He is a watcher and follower. Of course he will need a family with a heart-full of love and be willing to teach him what he needs to learn.
