ADOPTED

*** If you would like more information, please contact contact Connie Lawrence at conniel@andell.com or fill out an adoption application at www.brusselsgriffonrescue.org ***

Tinkerbelle is a precious, adorable little girl, who is approximately 6 or 7 years old and weighs about 9 pounds. When she first came to rescue, she tested heartworm-positive, but has completed her treatment and should be heartworm-negative now. She will need to be re-tested in a couple of months just to be sure.

For this little girl, being in a home where someone is retired or works from home would be ideal. She is secure enough in herself and would be fine without other dogs in the home, but she does enjoy the company of her foster siblings and is even learning the joy of how to wrestle and play with them. We’re not sure how she feels about cats, as of yet.

Tinkerbelle is still learning basic commands and will come when you call her. She can take a little while to warm up, but treats will certainly speed up the process. (Will work for food!) She is also learning how to walk on a leash and will need a bit more help in this area as she doesn’t seem to enjoy it that much yet. She has never had the pleasure of walking on a leash her whole life, and we are confident that once she learns how much fun and exciting it is to go out and see the world, she will be very happy to go on her walks. She likes toys and is figuring out how to play. She prefers to "kill" her toys and keeps a pile of the "dead" ones, then goes back to the toy bin to claim yet another stuffed victim. Such a funny character!

She is getting better at getting bathed. She found her first bath ever pretty terrifying, but she has had other baths and is building up her confidence and learning that to look like a lady and to feel really good, you must endure this dreadful task.

Tinkerbelle still likes access to her kennel as it is her "safe" zone. She is very sweet and likes to be petted, but prefers this on her own terms, and she might get a little stressed when you pick her up at first. She is not really a lap dog, but she will sit next to you on the sofa and hang out. She is still learning the basics of potty training and will probably need a little extra help once she finds her forever home. She has a cute little bark which you do not hear much until you are telling her ‘no’. We feel it’s her silly way of talking back!

She is well behaved and doesn’t get into things or chew up things, but occasionally she might try to steal your slippers and take them to her kennel. (A cute little quirk.) Tinkerbelle is also very good about sleeping in her kennel and actually prefers to sleep there at night. She will however take a nap in the big bed during the day if she can.

With her energy level, it's hard to consider her middle-aged, especially with her puppy good looks!

Would you be willing to take this little girl and love her for the rest of her life? With a little patience and perseverance, she’ll love you back and then some!

Tinkerbelle is current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, on heartworm preventative and we feel will be heartworm-negative on her next test.

Tinkerbelle is being fostered in the Austin, Texas area.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
