My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NEW ARRIVAL

We are pleased to introduce Montana......she is the newest addition to Hounds Haven. Montana came into rescue after her previous humans got her as a puppy and then decided she was more than they could handle and placed her in a pen in the back yard and there she sat for the first 3 years of her life:0( Well she is now in rescue and thriving as a couch potato. Montana is the most attention seeking loving girl you could ever ask for. She literally just wants to be up on your lap for some loving. She is still learning what toys are and at first had no idea how to even play with her new brothers due to lack of socialization. She has began to open up nicely and realized it OKay to play. But now thinks everything on the floor is a toy!! Montana is doing well with house training, but knows no signals or cues to let us know when she has to go outside. So she will need to go to a home that will be willing to help reinforce her housebreaking. She also has issues of going out into the yard by herself, she thinks she will be left alone again and that scares her. She is crate trained and sleeps in the crate at night time. She is UTD on all vaccinations and altered. If you think you can give this deserving girl the love and patience she deserves after a rough start to life please let us know.
Please contact Jess'e if you have any more questions about Montana at

UPDATE FROM DAD:

I would think that she would do great around children. She isn’t that shy anymore when meeting new people. She does get very submissive as soon as you try to pet her. She has melded into my family perfectly. She knows all the routines and plays with my boys all the time. She also has discovered her voice. She likes to bark when she plays. She still loves attention too. She is not afraid to nuzzle your hand if you are not petting her

Adoption Information:

Please remember Every animal for adoption through an A.P.E.-affiliated shelter is fully vetted for their age and only needs routine preventive care. Dogs older then 6 months of age are heartworm tested; all cats are tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FELUK/FIV). All dogs are kept on heartworm preventative. Every dog and cat is vaccinated (age appropriate), microchipped, and de-wormed, in addition to being spayed/neutered.

We are asking for interested parties to fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire prior to us lining up an appointment for them to see the animal(s) at the animal(s)' home.

For more information on our adoption procedures or to obtain a pre-adoption questionnaire to become eligible to adopt, please visit our website's Adoption Page.
