My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTER LOCATION: Salt Lake City, UT

Lovely Lila (short for Delilah) is an adorable, black and tan, mini dachshund who weighs about ten pounds and is about three years old. Lila is very sweet and wants nothing but to play, cuddle beside you and love you. She is very well behaved, comes when called and is potty trained.

A rocky start in life has left Lila afraid of people until she gets to know them. Lila’s Fuzzy Pawz Rescue foster mom has worked really hard with Lila teaching her to trust more easily and it’s paying off! Lila barks if a stranger approaches or to let you know she’s afraid and she does not like to be picked up. However if you ignore her for a bit and let approach you so she can get to know you on her own terms she is happy to be your friend (we call this the “rules of engagement”)! She is especially afraid of young children that are noisy and fast paced; however older children who understand the “rules of engagement”; those that give Lila time to get to know them would be fine in her household. Lila recently met her foster mom’s 10 year-old granddaughter and after an initial introduction Lila fell in love with and played well with her.

Lila has done extremely well in her foster home. She has gone from being a frightened, shaking little girl to a happy, playful girl who gets along well with her foster family and the other three dogs in the household. She has become especially good friends with their 18 month-old dachshund and the two of them rough and tumble together and snuggle in the dog bed. She also loves to snuggle in the lazy-boy chair with Grandpa.

She needs a patient family experienced with small dogs and someone who is home more than not. No kids under 10 years old in her adoptive home; she will also not do well in an extremely busy home with lots of comings and goings. She needs to be part of a loving family where she can spend lots of time playing and cuddling with her humans. It would be nice if she could have a small dog friend, too.

If you can offer Lila a warm, loving environment where she will get to spend lots of time with her humans please complete an adoption application with Fuzzy Pawz Rescue and we will have her foster parent contact you: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/

Lila is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped

There is a $75 adoption fee for Lila
