My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Wilbur, a handsome, seven-week old male, Shar Pei/Labrador mix with a short, glossy, soft coat. Wilbur is a quiet yet alert little man who loves nothing better than to sit on a lap and snooze. He does enjoy playing with other puppies, but is far more laid back than them. He is a sweet pup who enjoys his toys but shares well. He does like the outdoors, but prefers his dog bed after a short playtime. He loves everyone – young and old, and gets along very well with all the other dogs in his foster home. He is not a barker or a jumper. He seems to enjoy watching things go on around him, and sometimes gets involved, sometimes not. He is a serene little guy who will be loving and cuddly. W ilbur currently lives with his foster family in Middle Tennessee.

Wilbur is healthy, has received his first set of puppy vaccines, and will be vetted until he is adopted. We spay and neuter all animals in our care, but as Wilbur is still too young to be neutered, his adoptive family must commit to having him neutered when he’s old enough. As such, Wilbur’s adoption fee will be $150, with $70 returned to the adopters, once we have confirmation the pup has been fixed.

For more information on Wilbur, please contact Louise Vande Wiele at louisevdew@gmail.com and we will respond as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, please read the following so that you are aware of our process, and that you agree to it, before asking to adopt one of our rescues.

Anyone wanting to adopt a dog from the RARFS is expected to fill out an adoption application, provide references, sign an adoption contract, agree to a home visit, and finally to pay an adoption fee. Once the application is received, references checked, and a home visit completed, and everything is satisfactory, families can take their new family member home. Should a dog adopted from RARFS need to be rehomed, we ask that the dog be returned to us, or that we approve the new home. We have a no questions asked return policy, but fees will not be reimbursed.

Families who rent must provide a letter from their landlord stating that they are allowed to have a dog listing any size or breed restriction.

We prefer that families come and pick up their new family member, but a licensed pet transport is available. Should we need to transport dogs to their new homes, the adopter will need to pay $150 per dog, to the transport company.
