Here's Bo! He is an exuberant, happy boy--big, strong, affectionate, slightly goofy, and a bit clumsy as well. All in all, he's a charmer!
Bo spent the first five years of his life as an outdoor dog and came to live with his foster mom and dad when both of his previous owners were diagnosed with cancer. Bo has worked hard to understand the rules about living in a house. He no longer marks in the house, but he needs to be let outside at regular intervals as he hasn't yet learned how to let his foster family know that he needs to go outside. He has learned to go up and down stairs, to not be afraid of the TV, and to find his way to his own food bowl. Bo also no longer complains about being in his crate, and he keeps his crate clean.
With his big head and stocky build, Bo crashes through the underbrush like a Sherman tank and pulls on his leash like a sled dog, but he behaves like a perfect gentleman with his Gentle Leader on. Bo might not be a good fit with children under ten or elderly adults in the household, as he's still working on learning not to jump up. However, he is getting better at controlling himself every day!
Bo is an inveterate counter cruiser, and he will require some dedicated training in manners. He mostly ignores the two resident female dogs. He wants, most of all, to be able to lean against his foster mom and get belly rubs and ear scratches. Bo sometimes barks and gives chase to the resident cats and tries to mouth them, seemingly without malevolent intent. However, he would likely be better off in a home without cats. He would be fine either with other dogs or as an only dog.
Bo can be a happy addition to your loving family, but he needs a patient guiding hand to help him be successful. He has been neutered and microchipped, and he is up to date on shots. He had a growth in his mouth removed, which tested benign, but the vet said there is a slight possibility that it might reappear, so that will need to be watched.
His former owner said that Bo loves to hunt pheasant, but he also seems to be pretty happy just going for long walks. He is a very affectionate guy who is loving being an indoor dog. He wears a constant grin! If you have room in your heart and home for a dog that needs just a bit of additional help with manners, and who will keep you in stitches watching his reactions to things, Bo might be the guy for you!
Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Bo.
