My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Benny is a young Chihuahua mix, 2-3 years old, that came to our rescue when he found himself without a home. He is rather shy, and startles at quick movements and approaches, but is getting a little better each day now that he's realizing he's safe and no one is going to harm him. For a young dog, Benny is pretty laid back. He gets along well with other dogs and cats; he doesn't really play just yet but he is very respectful of them. He is pretty skinny, and eats his meals like he may not get another one, and can be grabby with treats but he's learning. He sleeps quietly in a crate all night, and is almost entirely housebroken if you keep an eye on his cues and let him out on a regular schedule.

This poor little guy takes a little while to relax, he will sit in your lap and start falling asleep sitting up like he's afraid to get too comfortable. But he is very affectionate when he warms up and loves to be cuddled and carried around. He's ok with kids, but because he startles easily, we don't recommend a household with very young children. Benny is a sweetheart that just wants to be loved and protected.
