My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Hercules, and I am a mostly Schnauzer mix- my coloring and bark make my foster mom think there may be some Beagle in me. I’m 11 years old.

2014 was not my best year. The man who had me for my first 10 years got really sick, and none of his relatives could keep me. That’s when I met the people at SRC. They took me in and found me a foster home where I had a good time for a few months. I thought I found my furever home last July. Late in December, I found myself in a shelter in Michigan – they called SRC and now I am back in my Cincinnati foster home.

I am motivated by anything edible, and for a cookie I will sing, sit, and give you a paw. If you don’t like that paw, I will give you the other one. I absolutely LOVE squeaky toys. I will run after the toy if you throw it, and I will bring it almost all the way back to you for another toss. That’s part of the game! I walk well on a leash, am very well housebroken and crate trained, and I will sleep on the bed with you. I like other dogs and people.

I’m up to date on all my shots. The vet says I have a little heart murmur – we are working to lose a couple of pounds to help with that. It does not slow me down one bit, unless it’s really hot and we want to take a long walk – I kinda run out of gas at the end. I am one special guy, and I would make a great addition to a quiet household.

From Foster Mom Gail: Hercules is very self-assured and takes a human who is willing to be the Alpha. He does not want to be picked up or snuggled. This second time with me, I have noticed that he seeks me out for a few minutes every evening for some one-on-one time. He looks me directly in the eye and listens to me tell him what a great guy he is while I scratch behind his ears. When he has had enough, he turns and walks away. He’s had a rough go for the last several months – he is deserving of a good home. Might that home be with you?

Hercules' adoption fee is only $250.00
